341 Very Short Ambitions

I’ve popped a new entry on the bucket list today: Read every book in the Oxford Very Short Introductions series.

The Oxford University Press have published 341 titles in the series since 1995, covering a wide range of topics as diverse as Folk Music, Cryptography, and Colonial Latin American Literature, and after 10 minutes on eBay, I’ve got this lot in the post:

  • Archaeology
  • Socialism
  • Global Warming
  • Ancient Warfare
  • Game Theory
  • Northern Ireland
  • Animal Rights
  • Music

Maybe this isn’t the wisest addition to my list given the forever expanding ‘in progress’ list on my Goodreads account, but I do find the prospect of learning a little bit about a lot in bite-sized chunks quite appealing.

Besides, I’m forever complaining that I didn’t pay enough attention in school. Hopefully anything I learn from these books will go some way to appeasing my belated thirst for knowledge 🙂
